From 1996 - 2014, she served as an elected Leon County Judge in Tallahassee, Florida.  She was the first African-American and first female African-American Leon County Court Judge, and the first African-American to win her seat in a contested election.

Before her terms on the bench, her law practice included all aspects of family law.  Now, she  adds to that knowledge, all county court jurisdictional matters.
